1. Preheat oven to 375º. Grease a cookie sheet.
2. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and mix until light and thick. In a separate bowl combine the dry ingredients and add the rest to the mixture. Beat until light and creamy.
3. Drop by round teaspoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
4. Place sugar for topping in a small dish. Dip the bottom of a class into water, then into the sugar. Press the cookies with the glass until a ¼-inch thick.
5. Bake for approximately 8 minutes, until lightly browned. Transfer from the cookie sheet to a rack and let cool.
